Just in case you'd like more detail on how to play Spot the Ball, we've put together a bit more info for you...
NOTE FOR GRAHAM: DATES NEED CONFIRMING. PLUS THE NUMBER OF POINTS REQUIRED TO GET INTO THE PRIZE DRAW FOR EACH ROUND.
SPOT THE BALL
IS COMING HOME!
Spot the Ball is back! Welcome back the iconic game
where the ball is removed from a photograph of a football match and you have to
place a ‘X’ where you think it is. It’s that simple.
In the past, Spot the Ball - or Play StB as we call it - was a game featured mostly in newspapers, but now we’ve brought it bang up to date and you can play it on our free Play StB World Cup Tournament app.
I want to play it! What do I do?
Firstly, you need to register, so click here. Then
follow the on-screen instructions. We hate admin, so we’ve made it as easy to
do as we could. Once you’re registered, you can play. It’s 100% free and you
can win some great football memorabilia prizes. See details here.
Play for Fun
Click the Play for Fun button and you get up to 30
images each day to practice on. We recommend you play a few of these games
first, so that when you play Prize Play, you’re at your best! When you Play for
Fun, you’ll get a number of points. The nearer to the centre pixel of the
football you place your three X’s, the more points you get. Once you’ve got
10,000 points you’re automatically entered into a prize draw for Round 1.
Daily Prize Play
There’s ONE SINGLE image every day for Prize Play. You
get 3 X’s and you’re playing against the clock. If you 'time out' then the game
is void and NO POINTS are awarded. So, don’t mess about. That’s why we
recommend you do a few Play for Fun games first.
Each image is available from 7.30am during the World
Cup, and results are revealed at 7.45pm (or 8.45pm) to coincide with half-time
for the evening matches played in Qatar, during the various stages of the
tournament.
You’ll be able to see the top 10 on the leaderboard on
the app, and YOUR OWN SCORE. On the website, you’ll be able to see the whole
leaderboard, and search for your mates to see how they’re doing - as long as
you know their usernames.
Any whilst you are waiting, you can even get some
practice in with dozens of new game plays that are added every day to help
sharpen your skills for the daily Prize Play.
Two competitions
The Play StB World Cup Tournament has two competitions which will run during the Qatar World Cup 2022 from November 20.
Firstly, there’s the Daily Prize Play where every day someone will win a prize
by scoring the highest daily points tally.
Then there’s competition 2: With 2 play-off rounds
during the tournament, you will have 2 chances to accumulate the points needed
to qualify for one of the Prize Draws and a chance to win an exclusive World
Cup Prize.
Finally, there’s the Golden Boot Prize! We all know
how that works. The player with the
highest points tally achieved by the end of the whole tournament wins the
coveted StB Golden Boot prize!
It’s not just
about luck!
Play StB is a game of skill that’s fun to play with
plenty of incentives to keep checking back daily, score more points and see how
you’re doing on the social media leaderboard. At its heart, it’s a simple idea
with no complicated rules or VAR - but you still need to have the right skill
and judgement to stick your X’s in the right place as you play against the
clock countdown!
